Sydney judge adds sparkle to this year's architectural awards
Cavalier Bremworth is proud to have Camilla Block, one of the
principal designers from noted Sydney architectural practice,
Durbach Block Architects, as the international guest judge for the
AAA Cavalier Bremworth Awards being held on Thursday 19
November.
This is the 18th year the company has sponsored the event, aimed
at rewarding design excellence for projects which are not yet under
construction or completed at the entry closing date.
Over the years Durbach Block has won many urban design
competitions, leading to a reputation for designing truly unique
and innovative architecture which sensitively responds to each
site, exemplified by the cupped square at Commonwealth Place, the
Brickpit Ring and Olympic Amenities buildings.
The firm has also won many architecture awards, including winning
the prestigious RAIA Wilkinson Award and RAIA Robin Boyd award
"House of the Year" - in 1998 for a penthouse on a city warehouse
rooftop, in 2004 for a sinuously curving 'S'-shaped house and in
2005 for a house precariously perched above a cliff top.
Camilla Block will be giving at lecture preceding the awards
evening - at 5.30pm in the Fisher& Paykel lecture theatre at
the University of Auckland School of Business.
Information about the competition and lecture event along with
registrations for both can be made online at
www.aaa.org.nz. Pre-registration closes on Friday 6
November.
