McEntyres Tarn, is an exclusive five-home hamlet of single
level residences set against the backdrop of some of Central
Otago's most dramatic mountains at Millbrook Resort.
The five cottage-style homes designed by Dunedin-based architect
Mason and Wales hark back to the simple stone crofts of early
settlers in Central Otago. The three-bedroom
two-bathroom homes have all the charm of a stone cottage, complete
with wooden beams and stone fireplace. Interior living is
cleverly designed as separate but inter-connectable spaces with
easy access to three separate sunny and peaceful outdoor living
areas.
Interior designer Jean Foster said she aimed to achieve a
timeless look and opted for simple fabrics and textures. She
chose Jaipur, a striated cut pile wool carpet, for use in the
bedrooms, lounge and study, opting for a deeper tone to anchor the
environment. The carpet works back with a plain tile on
the floors and draperies that were also chosen for their fine wool
appearance.
Jean says she is a total fan of wool carpet and natural textiles
and would never consider working with anything else.
